The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has been nominated for the Most Outstanding Chairman in Plateau State 2025 Award at this year’s Peace and Security Awards. The event will take place on Sunday, 26th September 2025, at Crispan Hotel and Suites, Jos.

The Peace and Security Awards is a prestigious platform that recognizes leaders and institutions who have contributed significantly to peace, security, and community development across Plateau State. According to the organizers, Hon. Tyem’s nomination followed a careful review of his performance in governance, particularly in education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment, sectors seen as central to building lasting peace and stability.

Among his notable achievements are:

Education Renewal: Renovation of public schools, provision of learning materials, free JAMB registration for over 1,500 students, sponsorship of pupils for academic competitions, and capacity-building programmes for teachers.

Healthcare Interventions: Recruitment of ad-hoc staff to strengthen manpower in health centres, improved welfare packages for workers, provision of security for health facilities, and Langtang North’s outstanding performance in the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaign.

Agriculture and Food Security: Distribution of thousands of bags of fertilizer to farmers, partnerships with ACRESAL, NG-CARES, and FADAMA III for dry-season farming, and promotion of large-scale vegetable production in Pishe/Yashi Ward.

Youth Empowerment: Engagement of over 700 youths through appointments and community-based initiatives designed to reduce unemployment and promote economic independence.

The award organizers described these interventions as clear examples of how responsive governance fosters peace and security at the grassroots level. “Hon. Tyem’s leadership has shown that when basic needs are met, education, food, healthcare, and opportunities for youth, the environment becomes more peaceful and secure,” they stated.

The 2025 edition of the Peace and Security Awards is expected to draw leaders, traditional rulers, policymakers, and development actors from across Plateau State.
